Setting Up Phones Purchased from BusinessVoIP
Phones purchased from BusinessVoIP.uk arrive pre-configured and ready to use. Simply connect power and network, and they'll automatically provision.
Initial Setup
- Unbox your phone and locate the power adapter and Ethernet cable
- Connect Ethernet cable from phone to your network switch or router
- Connect power adapter (or use Power over Ethernet if available)
- Phone will boot up and display "Provisioning..." message
- Wait 2-5 minutes for automatic configuration download
- Phone will display extension number and registered status when ready
Network Requirements
- • Internet Connection: Minimum 100Kbps per concurrent call (1Mbps recommended)
- • Firewall: Allow outbound UDP traffic on ports 5060-5061 (SIP) and 10000-20000 (RTP)
- • Quality of Service: Enable QoS on your router to prioritize VoIP traffic
- • VLAN: Optional but recommended for enterprise deployments
Configuring BLF Keys
- • BLF (Busy Lamp Field) keys show real-time status of other extensions
- • Access from VoIP Management → Phone Hardware → Select Phone → BLF Configuration
- • Assign extension numbers to programmable keys
- • Green = available, Red = on call, Flashing = ringing
- • Press BLF key to quickly transfer calls or check extension status
Phone Features
- • Voicemail: Press voicemail button or dial *97
- • Do Not Disturb: Press DND button to send all calls to voicemail
- • Call Forward: Configure in portal or use feature codes
- • Conference: Press conference button during active call
- • Hold: Press hold button (music on hold plays to caller)
- • Transfer: Blind transfer (transfer button + extension) or attended transfer (consult first)
